Early Life

Little People, Big World

Zach and his family became known to audiences when they began starring on the TLC reality television series "Little People, Big World" in 2006. Amy and Matt had been approached by the network about making a show, and the couple felt it was a good opportunity to increase representation and awareness of dwarfism. "Little People, Big World" chronicled the Roloffs in their day-to-day lives on the 36-acre Roloff Farm in Helvetia, Oregon, a suburb of Portland. Most of the focus was on father Matt, who worked in software sales and hospitality technology, and mother Amy, who does acting, coaching, and teaching.

The couple divorced in 2016 and went on to marry new partners: Matt to farm manager Caryn Chandler and Amy to Chris Marek. These marriages, as well as the marriages of their children, were featured in later seasons of "Little People, Big World." After filming the 25th season of the show, which aired in 2024, Zach decided he would be leaving the series due to privacy concerns, family tensions, and creative differences. However, that ended up being the final season of "Little People, Big World."
