Biography & Early Wealth Journey

Rhea Ripley, whose real name is Demi Bennett, has become one of the biggest stars in WWE and one of the most prominent female professional wrestlers of her generation. After beginning her career on the Australian independent circuit as a teenager, she joined WWE in 2017 and became the inaugural NXT UK Women's Champion, an NXT Women's Champion, a two-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion, and a multiple-time world champion. Ripley's transformation from a relatively conventional young wrestler into the heavily tattooed, gothic "Eradicator" helped make her one of WWE's most recognizable performers. In 2023, she won the women's Royal Rumble after entering at No. 1 and defeated Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39 to begin a 379-day championship reign. She became an even bigger personality as "Mami" in The Judgment Day alongside Dominik Mysterio. Ripley later regained the Women's World Championship from Liv Morgan in 2025 and defeated Jade Cargill at WrestleMania 42 in 2026 to win the WWE Women's Championship. Outside the ring, Ripley has become a major merchandise seller and has appeared in campaigns involving WWE partners including Minute Maid, Supercell, C4, and 2K.

Early Life

Demi Bennett was born on October 11, 1996, in Adelaide, South Australia. She grew up in the beachside suburb of Glenelg and attended Henley High School. Her family has Italian ancestry on her mother's side.

Bennett was athletic from an early age and participated in swimming, soccer, rugby, netball, and karate. She also became fascinated with professional wrestling, with Triple H, The Miz, and other WWE personalities among the wrestlers she watched growing up.

Primary Income Streams & Multi-Million Contracts

She began training for professional wrestling while still in her teens. Bennett made her professional debut in 2013, when she was just 16, and began working for Riot City Wrestling in Adelaide.

Australian Wrestling Career

Before WWE, Bennett spent several years gaining experience on Australia's independent wrestling circuit. Wrestling under her real name, she competed for promotions including Riot City Wrestling, Melbourne City Wrestling, and New Horizon Pro Wrestling.

She became a two-time Riot City Wrestling Women's Champion and gradually built a reputation as one of Australia's most promising young female wrestlers. Her early presentation looked very different from the character WWE fans would eventually know. Bennett had long blonde hair and a comparatively traditional wrestling appearance, while the darker aesthetic that became synonymous with Rhea Ripley developed years later.

Real Estate, Luxury Assets & Personal Investments

International opportunities followed, including wrestling outside Australia, as Bennett attempted to get the attention of larger promotions. WWE ultimately signed her in 2017.

WWE and the Mae Young Classic

Bennett entered WWE at age 20 and adopted the ring name Rhea Ripley. Her first major exposure came in the inaugural Mae Young Classic in 2017, a tournament featuring female wrestlers from around the world.

She returned for the 2018 tournament with a dramatically different appearance and attitude. Ripley had cut her hair short, developed a more aggressive persona, and increasingly leaned into the punk and heavy-metal influences that would eventually define her character.

Wealth Trajectory & Future Earnings Projections

The transformation helped separate her from WWE's crowded developmental roster. Ripley reached the semifinals of the 2018 Mae Young Classic before losing to IYO SKY.

Later that year, WWE launched its NXT UK women's division. Ripley defeated Toni Storm in the tournament final to become the inaugural NXT UK Women's Champion, making her the first woman to hold that title.

NXT Women's Champion

Ripley eventually moved from NXT UK to WWE's primary NXT brand in the United States. She quickly became one of its central female performers and entered a major rivalry with Shayna Baszler.

In December 2019, Ripley defeated Baszler to win the NXT Women's Championship, ending Baszler's lengthy second reign. The victory established Ripley as one of WWE's fastest-rising stars.

Her title reign led to an unusual WrestleMania storyline. Charlotte Flair won the 2020 women's Royal Rumble and was entitled to challenge for a championship at WrestleMania 36. Ripley confronted Flair and persuaded her to challenge for the NXT title instead.

Their match made Ripley the first NXT wrestler to defend an NXT championship at WrestleMania. Flair defeated her for the title, but the program gave Ripley valuable exposure to WWE's main-roster audience.

Main Roster and Raw Women's Championship

Ripley moved permanently to "Raw" in 2021 and was immediately placed in the women's championship picture.

At WrestleMania 37, she defeated Asuka to win the Raw Women's Championship. She held the title for approximately three months before losing it to Charlotte Flair at Money in the Bank.

Ripley subsequently formed an unlikely tag team with Nikki A.S.H. The pair won the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship in September 2021 before losing it later that year.

By this stage, Ripley had already won championships in NXT UK, NXT, and on WWE's main roster, but the biggest transformation of her career was still ahead.

The Judgment Day and "Mami"

In 2022, Ripley joined The Judgment Day, the dark-themed faction originally led by Edge. Damian Priest was already part of the group, and Ripley joined after helping Edge defeat AJ Styles.

Soon afterward, Ripley and Priest turned against Edge and welcomed Finn Bálor as the faction's new leader. Dominik Mysterio later joined the group.

Ripley's association with Dominik became an unexpectedly important part of her rise. Their on-screen relationship played on Ripley's physically intimidating personality, with Dominik referring to her as "Mami." The nickname caught on with fans and became a major part of Ripley's branding and merchandise.

Although Ripley was technically presented as a villain for much of this period, crowds increasingly cheered her. The combination of her appearance, physical wrestling style, humor, social-media presence, and chemistry with The Judgment Day helped turn her into one of WWE's most popular stars regardless of whether she was officially positioned as a hero or villain.

2023 Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 39

Ripley's career reached another level at the 2023 Royal Rumble.

She entered the women's match at No. 1 and remained in the ring for more than an hour, ultimately eliminating Liv Morgan to win. Ripley became the first woman to win a Royal Rumble after entering first and only the fourth wrestler overall to accomplish the feat.

The victory gave her a championship match at WrestleMania 39. Ripley selected SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair, setting up a rematch of their WrestleMania encounter three years earlier.

This time Ripley won. She defeated Flair at WrestleMania 39 to capture the SmackDown Women's Championship in a match that received widespread praise.

WWE renamed the title the Women's World Championship several months later. Ripley's reign continued for more than a year and included successful defenses against wrestlers including Natalya, Zelina Vega, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, and Becky Lynch.

She defeated Lynch at WrestleMania XL in April 2024, seemingly setting up another lengthy stretch as champion.

2024 Injury and Liv Morgan Feud

Days after WrestleMania XL, Ripley suffered a legitimate shoulder injury during a backstage segment involving Liv Morgan.

On April 15, 2024, she relinquished the Women's World Championship. WWE officially recognized her reign as lasting 379 days.

The injury became the foundation of one of WWE's biggest storylines. Morgan began what she called the "Liv Morgan Revenge Tour," eventually winning Ripley's championship and becoming increasingly involved with Dominik Mysterio.

Ripley returned during the summer of 2024 determined to reclaim both the championship and control of The Judgment Day. At SummerSlam, Dominik betrayed Ripley and helped Morgan defeat her before publicly aligning himself with Morgan.

Ripley and Damian Priest were subsequently forced out of The Judgment Day and became known together as the Terror Twins. Ripley continued feuding with Morgan and Dominik through the remainder of the year.

Second Women's World Championship

Ripley finally regained the Women's World Championship on January 6, 2025, defeating Liv Morgan on the premiere of "Raw" on Netflix.

Her second reign was much shorter than her first. IYO SKY defeated Ripley for the championship in March after interference and distractions involving Bianca Belair.

That led to a three-way Women's World Championship match between SKY, Ripley, and Belair at WrestleMania 41. SKY retained the title.

Ripley continued pursuing the championship, including a highly acclaimed match against SKY at WWE Evolution. Naomi interrupted that match by cashing in her Money in the Bank contract and ultimately pinned SKY to become champion.

Ripley's rivalry with SKY gradually transformed into mutual respect. By late 2025, the two had become allies.

Tag Team Championship and WrestleMania 42

Ripley and IYO SKY began 2026 by defeating The Kabuki Warriors to capture the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. It was Ripley's second reign with the tag title and another addition to a championship résumé that already spanned virtually every level of WWE.

After losing the tag championship, Ripley returned to singles competition and won the women's Elimination Chamber match in February 2026. The victory earned her a WWE Women's Championship opportunity against Jade Cargill at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

Ripley defeated Cargill on WrestleMania's second night to capture the WWE Women's Championship. The victory made her a world champion at WrestleMania for the third time, following her victories over Asuka in 2021 and Charlotte Flair in 2023.

She later successfully defended the championship against Cargill at Clash in Italy.

An injury sidelined Ripley during the summer of 2026. Rather than immediately stripping her of the championship, WWE created an interim WWE Women's Championship. Chelsea Green won the interim title in a ladder match at SummerSlam.

WWE Salary and Contract

WWE does not publicly disclose Ripley's exact salary.

In 2024, wrestling-industry reporting indicated that Ripley had agreed to terms on a new five-year WWE contract carrying a "considerable raise." The agreement was expected to keep her with WWE through 2029.

Court records made public in 2026 also provided an unusual glimpse into WWE's talent compensation practices. Internal WWE documents from 2022 identified Ripley among a group of performers that received annual contract increases totaling $2 million. That $2 million represented the combined increases for several wrestlers, not Ripley's individual salary.

WWE performers can earn money from multiple sources beyond their guaranteed contracts, including merchandise royalties, premium live event compensation, appearances, licensing, and other bonuses.

Ripley's position near the top of WWE's women's division has made her particularly valuable commercially. WWE Shop named her among the company's top ten merchandise sellers for 2025, alongside stars including Roman Reigns, CM Punk, John Cena, and Cody Rhodes.

Endorsements, Video Games and Merchandise

Ripley's distinctive character has made her one of WWE's most marketable female wrestlers.

She and Bianca Belair appeared together on the Deluxe Edition cover of "WWE 2K24," marking the first time two women were featured on a dedicated cover in the WWE 2K franchise.

Ripley has also been used prominently in WWE's corporate sponsorship campaigns. She participated in C4 Energy promotions around SummerSlam and was incorporated into Supercell's 2025 "Clash of Clans" collaboration with WWE as the Archer Queen.

In 2026, Ripley appeared alongside Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso in Minute Maid's "Bring the Juice" WWE campaign. The campaign included television advertising, limited-edition packaging, digital promotions, and WrestleMania integration.

She has also appeared in "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III" as part of a WWE crossover and has been represented extensively in action figures, trading cards, replica championship products, apparel, and other licensed merchandise.

Appearance and Wrestling Persona

Ripley's physical transformation became an important part of her career.

Early in WWE, she felt that her appearance did not distinguish her enough from other female performers. Over time she cut her hair shorter, adopted dark makeup, added numerous tattoos and piercings, and embraced a gothic and heavy-metal aesthetic.

Her entrance music has also become closely associated with her character. Motionless in White performs her WWE theme, "Demon in Your Dreams," and the band played it live for her entrance at WrestleMania XL.

Ripley's combination of size, strength, athleticism, and theatrical presentation has allowed WWE to position her differently from many previous women's champions. She frequently interacts physically with male wrestlers in storylines, reinforcing the idea that her character is dangerous regardless of her opponent's gender.

Personal Life

Ripley is married to fellow Australian professional wrestler Matthew Adams, better known as Buddy Matthews. Matthews previously wrestled in WWE as Buddy Murphy before joining All Elite Wrestling.

The two met through the wrestling industry and publicly confirmed their relationship in 2022. They became engaged in August 2023 and married on June 23, 2024.

Although Ripley's WWE storyline with Dominik Mysterio often blurred the line between character and reality for casual viewers, Matthews has publicly supported his wife's success and has joked about her fictional television relationship.

Ripley is a fan of heavy music and has cited bands including Motionless in White, Ice Nine Kills, and Falling in Reverse among her favorites. She also supports the Adelaide Football Club.

From a 16-year-old wrestling on small Australian shows to one of WWE's most recognizable international stars, Ripley's rise has been unusually rapid. Before turning 30, she had won the Royal Rumble, the Elimination Chamber, championships across NXT UK, NXT, "Raw," and "SmackDown," and multiple WrestleMania world-title matches, establishing herself as one of the defining performers of WWE's modern women's division.
