Larry Birkhead was born on January 22, 1973, in Jefferson County, Kentucky. He is the son of Larry L. Birkhead and Nancy Birkhead. He grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and graduated from Louisville's Doss High School in 1991. He has a twin brother, Lewis, a sister, Angela, and a half-sister named Judy Birkhead. Larry attended the University of Louisville and graduated in 1996.

Paternity Claim

Larry met model, actress, and television personality Anna Nicole Smith in May 2004 while attending the major Louisville-area Kentucky Derby party known as the Trish Barnstable Brown Gala.

Anna gave birth to a baby girl on September 7, 2006, in Nassau, Bahamas. Other men who claimed paternity included Anna's lawyer, Howard K. Stern, Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, and Alexander Denk, Anna's former bodyguard.
