Biography & Early Wealth Journey

Kat Timpf became nationally known through Fox News, where she has been a contributor since 2015 and became one of the regular personalities on "Gutfeld!," the late-night comedy and commentary program hosted by Greg Gutfeld. Her television persona combines political and cultural commentary with comedy and a libertarian perspective that frequently differs from both major political parties.

Timpf has also built a substantial career outside television. She is the author of the New York Times bestselling books "You Can't Joke About That: Why Everything Is Funny, Nothing Is Sacred, and We're All in This Together" and "I Used to Like You Until… (How Binary Thinking Divides Us)." She turned the first book into a successful national comedy tour and has continued performing stand-up around the United States.

Earlier in her career, Kat worked for Campus Reform, "The Washington Times," National Review, Barstool Sports, and several radio and television outlets. In 2025, she stepped away from television temporarily after giving birth to her first child and undergoing treatment for Stage 0 breast cancer before returning to "Gutfeld!" and stand-up comedy.

Early Life and Education

Primary Income Streams & Multi-Million Contracts

Katherine Clare Timpf was born on October 29, 1988, in Detroit, Michigan. She developed an interest in reading, writing, and comedy while growing up and eventually enrolled at Hillsdale College.

Timpf graduated magna cum laude from Hillsdale in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Hillsdale is an independent, nonsectarian Christian liberal arts college that has become particularly known for its classical curriculum and conservative institutional outlook.

After college, Kat moved around the country pursuing journalism and comedy. She has spoken about struggling financially during her early career, including working at Boston Market while trying to establish herself as a writer and stand-up performer in Los Angeles.

Early Media Career

Real Estate, Luxury Assets & Personal Investments

Timpf worked as a reporter for Campus Reform, a project of the Leadership Institute, where she covered issues involving higher education and campus politics. She later became a digital editor at "The Washington Times."

Her other early jobs included working as a producer and reporter for Total Traffic Network in Santa Ana, California, and serving as a news anchor for NASA's Third Rock Radio. Timpf also received a Robert Novak Journalism Fellowship.

During this period, she contributed columns and commentary to publications including the "Orange County Register," "Investor's Business Daily," and the "Pittsburgh Post-Gazette." She eventually became a regular writer for National Review, where she remained a columnist for nearly six years.

Fox News

Wealth Trajectory & Future Earnings Projections

Timpf joined Fox News as a contributor in 2015. She appeared across the network on programs including "Red Eye," "Fox & Friends," "The Five," "Outnumbered," "Your World with Neil Cavuto," and programs hosted by Megyn Kelly and Neil Cavuto.

Her most enduring role has been alongside Greg Gutfeld. She became a regular presence on "The Greg Gutfeld Show," which debuted in 2015 and eventually evolved into the weeknight program "Gutfeld!" Timpf's role combines comedy with discussion of news, politics, media, and popular culture.

Professional wrestler and commentator Tyrus also became a longtime member of the show's ensemble. Kat and Tyrus additionally co-hosted the Fox News Radio podcast "Tyrus and Timpf."

"The Fox News Specialists"

In 2017, Fox gave Timpf one of her first regular weekday hosting positions when she became a co-host of "The Fox News Specialists." She shared the program with Eric Bolling and Eboni K. Williams.

The show mixed discussion of the day's major news stories with appearances by rotating guests from politics, entertainment, business, and other fields. It premiered in May 2017 but lasted only several months.

Although short-lived, "The Fox News Specialists" gave Timpf a higher-profile role at the network and helped establish her as more than an occasional panelist.

"Sincerely, Kat" and Other Fox Work

In 2019, Timpf began hosting "Sincerely, Kat" for the Fox Nation streaming service. Structured partly as an advice program, the series featured Kat and comedian guests answering viewer questions about relationships, work, social situations, politics, and popular culture.

The show produced two seasons spanning 2019 and 2020. Guests included comedians and other Fox personalities, including Gutfeld and Timpf's future husband.

She has continued appearing across Fox programming while maintaining "Gutfeld!" as her primary television role. Timpf has also appeared on Fox Nation specials and other comedy-oriented programming associated with the network.

Barstool Sports and Podcasting

Before her Fox career became her primary media job, Timpf worked with Barstool Sports. She hosted "The Kat Timpf Show," a weekly podcast that mixed interviews, comedy, personal stories, and commentary.

Her experience in podcasting complemented her work as a columnist and television panelist, giving her an outlet for longer conversations outside the constraints of cable television.

Timpf has subsequently appeared regularly on radio shows and podcasts both inside and outside the Fox media ecosystem.

Stand-Up Comedy

Comedy has been part of Timpf's career since her years immediately after college. She performed stand-up while working in journalism and gradually began combining personal storytelling with material about free speech, relationships, politics, grief, and uncomfortable subjects.

Following the publication of her first book, she launched "You Can't Joke About That LIVE." The national tour sold out theaters around the United States and helped establish stand-up as a substantial part of her career rather than a side project to television.

She followed with the "I Used to Like You Tour" in connection with her second book. After taking time away from performing in 2025 for childbirth and cancer treatment, Timpf returned to live comedy and continued booking shows around the country.

Books

Timpf published her first book, "You Can't Joke About That: Why Everything Is Funny, Nothing Is Sacred, and We're All in This Together," in 2023. Part memoir and part argument about comedy and free expression, the book draws on personal experiences involving grief, relationships, health, politics, and her career.

"You Can't Joke About That" became a New York Times bestseller. The accompanying live show expanded many of the same themes through stand-up and storytelling.

Her second book, "I Used to Like You Until… (How Binary Thinking Divides Us)," was published in September 2024. The book focuses on ideological polarization and Timpf's argument that people increasingly reduce one another to political labels or individual disagreements. It also became a New York Times bestseller.

Timpf has frequently described herself as a libertarian rather than a conventional partisan commentator, and both books reflect her broader interest in free expression, disagreement, and political tribalism.

Writing

Timpf spent nearly six years writing for National Review, producing columns about free speech, higher education, media, cultural controversies, and politics.

In 2018, National Review retracted one of her columns after concluding that it had inaccurately described the details of a sexual-harassment complaint at the University of Missouri. The publication issued a correction, and Timpf acknowledged the error.

Her writing career eventually shifted increasingly toward books and long-form personal work as television and stand-up consumed more of her professional schedule.

Personal Life

Timpf met Cameron Friscia through the dating app Raya. Friscia is a former Army Ranger who served in Afghanistan before moving into finance.

The couple became engaged in 2020 and married in May 2021. The ceremony was officiated by longtime Fox personality and former MTV host Kennedy.

Kat and Cameron welcomed their first child, a son, in February 2025. They live in New York City and have frequently featured their dog, Carl, and cat, Cheens, in Timpf's social-media posts and personal stories.

Breast Cancer

In February 2025, Timpf revealed that she had been diagnosed with Stage 0 breast cancer approximately 15 hours before going into labor with her son. She said her doctors believed the cancer had almost certainly not spread.

The diagnosis was ductal carcinoma in situ, commonly abbreviated DCIS. Timpf elected to undergo a double mastectomy in March 2025, followed by reconstructive surgery.

In April 2025, she said she was cancer-free. Timpf later returned to television and stand-up and began speaking publicly about the experience, including the unusual challenge of recovering from childbirth, a double mastectomy, and reconstruction within the same period.

She has also used her experience to encourage breast-cancer screening and has discussed the role humor played in coping with the diagnosis and recovery.
