Biography & Early Wealth Journey
Herman Echevarria became familiar to reality television viewers through his appearances on Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Miami" with his wife, Alexia Echevarria. Long before the show, however, he had established himself as a powerful figure in South Florida's business, advertising, and political communities.
Echevarria served for 12 years on the Hialeah City Council and held leadership positions with the Hialeah Chamber of Commerce and Industries. In the private sector, he was the chairman and CEO of BVK/Meka, an international marketing and communications firm. His work frequently involved companies, government agencies, political campaigns, and organizations seeking to reach Hispanic consumers.
Herman and Alexia also operated "Venue Magazine," an upscale Spanish-language lifestyle publication covering Miami entertainment, fashion, food, and society. His wealth came primarily from his communications business, political consulting, publishing interests, insurance, and real estate rather than his supporting role on reality television.

"Venue Magazine"
Herman and Alexia Echevarria co-founded and operated "Venue Magazine." The publication presented Miami through a luxury-oriented Latin perspective, covering celebrities, designers, restaurants, nightlife, travel, and major social events.
Alexia became the public-facing editor in chief, while Herman's advertising and communications experience helped support the publication commercially. "Venue" was also featured during the early seasons of "The Real Housewives of Miami," introducing Herman to a much wider audience.
Although the show increased his name recognition, Herman generally remained more reserved than the principal cast members and focused on his businesses.
Personal Life
Herman had adult sons from a previous relationship. He married Alexia in 2004 and became a stepfather to her sons, Peter and Frankie Rosello.
Herman and Alexia separated in 2015, although their divorce had not been finalized when he died. Despite the separation, Alexia said they remained close and continued to care for one another.
On September 26, 2016, Herman was found dead in his Miami apartment at the age of 61. His death was ruled the result of natural causes.
Estate and Inheritance
Following Herman's death, disagreements developed between Alexia and Herman's adult sons over control of certain property and estate assets. The disputes included a Miami Beach residence and personal property that had been used by Alexia.
Alexia later stated that Herman left her the proceeds of a life insurance policy. She also said his children were beneficiaries of trusts he had established. Those arrangements indicated that Herman had conducted at least some estate planning even though the administration of his remaining property produced legal disagreements.
In recognition of his career and contributions to Hialeah, a portion of West 16th Avenue was designated "Herman Echevarria Way."
