She met Jimmy at a small Assemblies of God church in Wisner, Louisiana, when she was 15 years old. They married in 1952 and have one son, Donnie Swaggart, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren who are also involved in the ministry.

Frances began working behind the scenes in the early years of her husband's gospel music and preaching career. By the 1960s and 1970s, she played a pivotal role in helping Jimmy record and distribute his music, often supervising sessions in Nashville. Jimmy has publicly credited her with being the organizational backbone of the ministry, often remarking that she could run a Fortune 500 company.
