Biography & Early Wealth Journey
David Dobrik became one of the defining social-media stars of the late 2010s, first building a following on Vine and then becoming enormously popular on YouTube through his fast-paced comedy videos and the group of recurring collaborators known as the Vlog Squad. At his peak, his videos regularly attracted tens of millions of views, while sponsorships, merchandise, advertising, and other businesses turned his online fame into a multimillion-dollar enterprise. Forbes estimated that Dobrik earned $15.5 million in 2020 alone, making him one of the world's highest-paid YouTube personalities.
His career suffered a major setback in 2021 when controversies involving members of the Vlog Squad led numerous sponsors to cut ties and YouTube to temporarily suspend monetization on his channels. Dobrik subsequently shifted more of his attention toward businesses outside traditional YouTube advertising. His ventures have included the Dispo photography app, Doughbrik's Pizza, Xeela Fitness, and the Wavers snack brand. After nearly three years away from regular uploads on his main YouTube channel, Dobrik returned to vlogging in January 2025 and revived his "VIEWS" podcast with Jason Nash.
Earnings
At the height of his first run as a YouTube superstar, Dobrik was one of the highest-earning creators on the internet. Forbes estimated that he earned $15.5 million during the 12 months ending in 2020, driven largely by sponsorships, merchandise, social-media income, and advertising deals with companies including SeatGeek, Bumble, EA, Chipotle, and others.
Primary Income Streams & Multi-Million Contracts
Dobrik has also provided an unusually candid look at how dramatically YouTube advertising economics can change. He said that during an earlier period when his channel generated roughly 60 million views per month, his monthly YouTube advertising check could exceed $275,000. After changes to advertiser-friendly content policies, he said his videos were generating significantly more views but producing only a fraction of that advertising revenue.
His wealth today should not be confused with his peak annual earnings. Dobrik has spent substantial amounts producing videos, operating businesses, buying real estate, and funding giveaways, and the ownership percentages and valuations of several of his private ventures are not publicly known. His current $20 million net worth reflects his accumulated earnings, property, and business interests rather than assuming that his former $15+ million annual income continued indefinitely.
Early Life
David Julian Dobrik was born on July 23, 1996, in Košice, Slovakia. His family moved to the United States when he was six years old and settled in Vernon Hills, Illinois. He grew up with three siblings and attended Vernon Hills High School, where he played competitive tennis.

Dobrik qualified for the 2014 Illinois high school state tennis tournament and finished third in doubles. After graduating from high school, he moved to Los Angeles rather than attending college, hoping to build a career in entertainment and social media.
Vine and YouTube
Dobrik began posting videos to Vine in 2013. His six-second comedy clips attracted more than one million followers before the platform shut down, and he frequently collaborated with other rising internet personalities including Liza Koshy, Gabbie Hanna, and Jason Nash.
He was also part of the collaborative YouTube channel Second Class before launching his main "David Dobrik" channel in 2015. Dobrik developed a distinctive format built around videos lasting roughly four minutes and 20 seconds, with rapid editing, celebrity cameos, pranks, surprises, elaborate stunts, and recurring appearances by a loose group of friends who became known collectively as the Vlog Squad.
Wealth Trajectory & Future Earnings Projections
His channel grew at extraordinary speed. In 2018, YouTube presented Dobrik with a Diamond Play Button after he surpassed 10 million subscribers. He launched a second channel, "David Dobrik Too," featuring bloopers, challenges, and additional content, and his popularity expanded onto Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok.

Dobrik became known for bringing celebrities into his videos and for giving away cars and other expensive prizes to friends and fans. His videos featured stars from outside the traditional YouTube world, and his reach helped demonstrate how internet creators could rival conventional television personalities in both audience size and advertising power.
Sponsors and Merchandise
Brand partnerships became one of Dobrik's most important sources of income. SeatGeek was among his most visible longtime sponsors, frequently appearing in videos in which Dobrik surprised friends with cars. He also worked with companies including EA, Bumble, Honey, Chipotle, and other major advertisers.
In April 2019, Chipotle celebrated National Burrito Day by temporarily offering Dobrik's regular order as the "Dobrik Burrito." The campaign won a Brand Engagement Award at the Streamys Brand Awards later that year.
Dobrik also generated significant revenue from merchandise, particularly his Clickbait clothing line. Hoodies, shirts, shorts, hats, and other branded products allowed him to monetize his audience independently of YouTube's advertising system, an increasingly important strategy as the economics of his videos became less predictable.
Dispo
In late 2019, Dobrik launched a photography app called "David's Disposable." Designed to mimic the experience of using a disposable camera, the app intentionally delayed access to photographs until the following morning. It quickly surpassed one million downloads and was eventually transformed into a social photography platform called Dispo.
Dispo attracted substantial venture-capital interest. The company raised a $4 million seed round before raising a Series A round in 2021 at a reported $200 million valuation. Dobrik was one of the company's co-founders, along with Daniel Liss and Natalie Mariduena.
In March 2021, amid broader controversy surrounding the Vlog Squad, Dobrik stepped down from Dispo's board and left the company. Although Dispo's $200 million valuation was frequently cited in discussions of Dobrik's wealth, that figure represented the valuation of the entire privately held company, not money paid personally to Dobrik. His precise ownership stake, whether he retained equity after leaving, and whether he ever received substantial proceeds from that stake have not been publicly disclosed.
2021 Controversy and YouTube Hiatus
Dobrik's business experienced a major disruption in 2021 after allegations of sexual assault were made against former Vlog Squad member Dom Zeglaitis relating to an encounter that occurred during the filming of a 2018 vlog. Dobrik was not accused of committing the alleged assault, but he faced criticism over the environment surrounding the production and his handling of the situation.
Numerous brands suspended or ended their relationships with him, and YouTube temporarily suspended monetization on several of his channels. Dobrik released apology videos and stepped away from posting before returning to YouTube several months later.
He eventually reduced his output again, posting his final regular vlog of that era in March 2022. For nearly three years, he remained active on platforms including Snapchat and TikTok while concentrating more heavily on his businesses and other projects.
Return to YouTube and "VIEWS"
Dobrik returned to his main YouTube channel in January 2025, initially drawing attention with a video documenting a dramatic year-long fitness transformation undertaken with his friend Ilya Fedorovich and Xeela Fitness. The return marked his first main-channel upload in nearly three years.
Dobrik and Jason Nash also revived their "VIEWS" podcast in January 2025 after a lengthy hiatus. The program subsequently resumed a regular release schedule, once again featuring conversations about their personal lives, entertainment careers, business ventures, and members of their longtime social circle.
The comeback also illustrated how Dobrik's business had evolved. Unlike the earlier period when his identity and income were centered overwhelmingly around viral YouTube vlogs, his newer media activity exists alongside a growing collection of consumer businesses.
Doughbrik's Pizza and Wavers
In November 2022, Dobrik and longtime friend Ilya Fedorovich opened Doughbrik's Pizza on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. The restaurant specializes in pizza inspired by the food Dobrik grew up eating around Chicago and attracted long lines when it opened.
Dobrik subsequently expanded the Doughbrik's name beyond the physical restaurant. In 2025, he and his partners launched Wavers, a line of crunchy pizza-inspired snacks sold under The Original Doughbrik's Snacks brand. Initial flavors included Late Night Pizza, Spicy Pickle, Extra Cheesy, and Hot Honey.
Wavers expanded through national distribution partnerships with Gopuff and IT'SUGAR and entered selected BevMo! stores in California. The company also began expanding internationally, including distribution through 7-Eleven stores in Australia. Dobrik has described broader international expansion as one of the brand's goals.
Dobrik has also invested in Xeela Fitness, the fitness and supplement company founded by Fedorovich. His official business portfolio has additionally promoted Toby, a pickleball-related venture, reflecting his increasing focus on equity and ownership rather than relying solely on paid endorsements.
Television and Other Projects
Dobrik expanded beyond social media into television, podcasting, and acting. In 2019, he served as a judge on Nickelodeon's "America's Most Musical Family" alongside Ciara and Debbie Gibson. He was also a guest judge on "Chopped Junior" and appeared as a presenter at the American Music Awards.
In 2020, Dobrik hosted Discovery Channel's competition series "Dodgeball Thunderdome." After receiving his green card and gaining the ability to travel internationally, he starred in the Discovery+ travel series "Discovering David Dobrik," which followed him and his friends on trips to destinations including Slovakia, Greece, Dubai, and South Africa.
His acting credits include the short film "An Interrogation" and a voice role as Axel in the 2019 animated film "The Angry Birds Movie 2."
Personal Life
Dobrik was brought to the United States as a child and was protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, commonly known as DACA. Because of his immigration status, international travel was complicated for much of his early career. In September 2021, he announced that he had obtained a green card, allowing him to travel outside the United States and return as a permanent resident.
Dobrik dated Liza Koshy from 2015 until 2018. In May 2019, as part of an elaborate joke for his vlog, he legally married Lorraine Nash, the mother of Jason Nash. Dobrik and Lorraine separated about a month later, and the divorce was finalized later that year.
Dobrik has become particularly famous for giving away automobiles. Over the years, he has surprised friends, relatives, assistants, and fans with numerous cars, often with a sponsor helping finance the giveaway. In April 2023, the tradition was reversed when friend and internet personality Corinna Kopf gave Dobrik a Ferrari F8 valued at more than $500,000.
Jeff Wittek Accident and Lawsuit
In June 2020, Vlog Squad member Jeff Wittek was seriously injured while filming a stunt in Utah involving an excavator operated by Dobrik. Wittek was swinging from a rope attached to the machine when he struck the excavator and suffered severe injuries to his face, skull, and eye.
Wittek sued Dobrik in 2022, seeking $10 million in damages. The lawsuit remained unresolved for several years and represented a potentially significant financial liability.
In May 2026, Wittek announced that the dispute had been resolved and dropped the lawsuit. The financial terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Wittek said he had subsequently learned that Dobrik's company had provided insurance coverage for roughly $110,000 of his initial medical expenses and that Dobrik had personally paid an additional roughly $41,000 in expenses. The settlement eliminated one of the largest publicly known legal uncertainties surrounding Dobrik's finances.
Real Estate
In August 2020, David paid $9.5 million for a mansion in Sherman Oaks, California. The approximately 7,800-square-foot property has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, an infinity pool, movie theater, gym, wine room, and extensive views across the San Fernando Valley. The home was originally offered for around $12 million.
Here's a video tour of the house:
Dobrik previously owned a home in Studio City that he purchased in 2017 for $2.5 million. He listed that property for sale in June 2021 for $3.5 million.
