Biography & Early Wealth Journey
Chanel West Coast, whose real name is Chelsea Chanel Dudley, became famous through her long association with MTV personality Rob Dyrdek. She first appeared as the receptionist on "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory" beginning in 2009 and subsequently became one of the three original hosts of "Ridiculousness." Chanel appeared alongside Dyrdek and Sterling "Steelo" Brim from the show's 2011 debut until her departure in 2023, filming hundreds of episodes across 30 seasons.
Her television career gave Chanel the platform to pursue her longtime ambition of becoming a recording artist. She signed with Lil Wayne's Young Money label, released the mixtapes "Now You Know" and "Waves," and collaborated with performers including Snoop Dogg, French Montana, Robin Thicke, YG, and B-Real. She released her debut studio album, "America's Sweetheart," in 2020 and followed with "California State of Mind" in 2024.
After leaving "Ridiculousness," Chanel signed an overall deal with Paramount Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios to develop and executive produce projects. The first major result was the 2024 MTV reality series "The West Coast Hustle," which followed her transition into motherhood while pursuing her music career. In the mid-2020s, she also began moving away from her primarily hip-hop sound and incorporating country music into her work.
Early Life
Primary Income Streams & Multi-Million Contracts
Chelsea Chanel Dudley was born on September 1, 1988, in Los Angeles, California. Her parents lived separately, so Chanel split much of her childhood between North Hollywood and New York City.
Her father worked as a DJ in New York, exposing her to music and nightlife from an unusually young age. Chanel has recalled accompanying him to clubs while he performed, sometimes sleeping beneath the DJ booth while he worked. She began taking singing and dancing lessons and developed an interest in hip-hop.
By her early teens, Chanel was writing her own rap lyrics. She attended traditional school for part of her education before ultimately completing high school through homeschooling.
Music was initially her primary ambition, but television would end up giving her the fame and financial stability that allowed her to pursue it professionally.

"Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory"
Chanel met Rob Dyrdek when she was around 20 years old. Dyrdek hired her as the receptionist at the enormous Los Angeles warehouse and office complex featured on his MTV reality series "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory."
Wealth Trajectory & Future Earnings Projections
Chanel was part of "Fantasy Factory" from its first season in 2009 rather than joining during the later seasons. Her role gradually expanded far beyond answering phones, and she became one of the recurring personalities in Dyrdek's group of friends and employees.
The show frequently incorporated her ambitions as a rapper into its storylines. Dyrdek helped fund music videos, staged comedic promotional ideas around Chanel's music, and regularly featured her performances and recording career.
"Fantasy Factory" ultimately ran for seven seasons through 2015. By the time it ended, Chanel had already moved into the television job that would define her career.
"Ridiculousness"
In 2011, Chanel joined Dyrdek and Steelo Brim for a new MTV clip show called "Ridiculousness." The hosts watched and commented on viral internet videos featuring stunts, accidents, pranks, sports mishaps, and unusual behavior.
The basic format was simple, inexpensive to produce, and extraordinarily durable. "Ridiculousness" eventually became one of MTV's most heavily programmed shows, with the network producing episodes at a volume rarely seen in modern cable television.
Chanel became particularly recognizable for her distinctive laugh and chemistry with Dyrdek and Brim. Over more than a decade, the show featured celebrity guests from music, sports, television, and internet culture.
She remained a regular co-host for 30 seasons, from 2011 until 2023, and appeared in roughly 700 episodes.
After more than a decade on the program, Chanel announced in March 2023 that she was leaving "Ridiculousness." The decision was part of a broader agreement with Paramount Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios that allowed her to move from being primarily an on-camera personality into developing and executive producing her own projects.

"The West Coast Hustle"
The first major television project to emerge after Chanel's departure from "Ridiculousness" was "The West Coast Hustle."
The MTV docuseries premiered in July 2024 and followed Chanel as she attempted to balance motherhood, her relationship with Dom Fenison, friendships, business responsibilities, and the effort to expand her recording career beyond her television celebrity.
Unlike "Ridiculousness," where Chanel was one member of a three-person hosting team, "The West Coast Hustle" was built entirely around her personal and professional life. She also served as an executive producer.
The first season consisted of eight episodes. The series was not renewed for a second season, but it represented a significant change in Chanel's career by establishing her as an executive producer as well as an onscreen personality.
Early Music Career and Young Money
Although television made her famous, Chanel had been pursuing music before she ever appeared on MTV.
She began recording songs professionally around 2009 and released early tracks including "Melting Like Ice Cream," "PHAMOUS," and "I Love Money."
Her biggest industry opportunity arrived after she connected with Lil Wayne. Chanel signed with his Young Money Entertainment imprint in 2012.
In 2013, she released her first major mixtape, "Now You Know." The project included appearances from Snoop Dogg, French Montana, Robin Thicke, and other artists.
Chanel promoted the mixtape through touring and continued releasing music while filming television at an unusually heavy pace.
Her second mixtape, "Waves," followed in 2015 and included collaborations with YG and B-Real. She continued releasing singles including "Blueberry Chills," "Miles and Miles," "Bass in the Trunk," "New Bae," and "Nobody."
"America's Sweetheart"
After years of singles and mixtapes, Chanel released her first full-length studio album, "America's Sweetheart," in October 2020.
The album represented a more independent stage of her music career. By that point, her association with Young Money had ended, and Chanel had greater creative control over her releases.
"America's Sweetheart" included tracks such as "Black Roses," "No Plans," and "40 Yard Dash." The album mixed hip-hop, pop, and R&B and reflected Chanel's attempt to establish a musical identity separate from her "Ridiculousness" persona.
She also collaborated with artists including Too Short and the Ying Yang Twins during this period.
"California State of Mind" and Country Music
Chanel released her second studio album, "California State of Mind," in September 2024.
The 10-track project included "Lil Miss Sunshine," "Cool Off," "Pretty Girls," "Wonderful Life," and the title track. The album leaned more heavily toward pop while continuing to incorporate elements of rap and R&B.
Beginning in 2025, Chanel began another musical reinvention by moving into country music. She released "Lil Bit Country" and followed in 2026 with songs including "Down to the Filter," "Giddy Up," and "Tennessee."
Chanel described the country direction as allowing more of Chelsea Dudley, rather than the exaggerated television personality associated with the Chanel West Coast name, to emerge in her music. Motherhood also influenced the change, with her lyrics increasingly focusing on family, relationships, and a more settled stage of life.
Other Television and Voice Work
Chanel's television career extends beyond the Dyrdek shows.
She appeared on the MTV comedy "The Hard Times of RJ Berger" and voiced the character Flipz on Dyrdek's animated Nickelodeon series "Wild Grinders."
In 2017, Chanel joined the fourth season of VH1's "Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood." Her storyline focused largely on her efforts to gain greater recognition as a rapper despite being best known as a television personality.
She has also appeared as herself on a variety of reality programs, music shows, and celebrity competition series over the years.
Personal Life
Chanel began dating model Dom Fenison in the early 2020s. In June 2022, she announced that the couple was expecting their first child.
Their daughter, Bowie Breeze Fenison, was born on November 2, 2022.
Motherhood became a major part of Chanel's public life and served as one of the central storylines of "The West Coast Hustle." She has said that becoming a mother changed both her priorities and the kind of music she wanted to make.
Chanel and Fenison became engaged in December 2025. Their daughter has remained an important part of Chanel's public and professional life as she has shifted away from the nonstop production schedule that characterized her years on "Ridiculousness."
Real Estate
In 2019, Chanel West Coast paid $1.65 million for a contemporary home in the Hollywood Dell area of the Hollywood Hills.
Built in 1954 and extensively renovated before her purchase, the roughly 2,600-square-foot property contains three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. The multilevel home features hardwood floors, large windows, an open-plan kitchen, multiple balconies, and a two-car garage.
The property represented a significant milestone for Chanel after approximately a decade of regular MTV work and years of maintaining simultaneous careers in television and music.
