Biography & Early Wealth Journey

Brittany Renner built a large online following through fitness content before expanding into books, television, brand partnerships, and reality TV. A former Division I soccer player at Jackson State University, she became one of Instagram's better-known fitness personalities during the platform's early influencer era and later published the 2018 memoir "Judge This Cover." Renner has appeared as an actress on "American Soul" and Tyler Perry's "The Haves and the Have Nots," but her largest television role came when she joined "Basketball Wives" in 2023 and returned for the show's 12th season in 2025. Her personal life has also generated significant media attention, particularly her relationship and son with NBA player P.J. Washington and her brief 2025 Islamic marriage to rapper Kevin Gates. Despite earning substantial money during the peak of her social-media career, Renner has spoken candidly about spending much of what she made. Court filings in 2025 showed that her financial situation had deteriorated significantly after her "Basketball Wives" income ended.

Early Life and Soccer Career

Brittany Nichole Renner was born on February 26, 1992, and grew up in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Athletics were a major part of her life before social media and entertainment entered the picture.

Renner attended Jackson State University, where she played Division I soccer for the Lady Tigers. She was a defender and immediately made an impact, earning Southwestern Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year honors in 2010.

Primary Income Streams & Multi-Million Contracts

That same season, Jackson State won the first SWAC soccer championship in school history. Renner was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after helping anchor the team's defense. Jackson State later included her among the women's athletes it honored while celebrating the 50th anniversary of Title IX.

Renner has said she also spent time playing semi-professional soccer in Florida. After leaving competitive soccer, she worked a variety of jobs, including as a caregiver and Zumba instructor, while figuring out what she wanted to do professionally.

Fitness and Social Media

Renner began using Instagram in 2012, when earning a living as an influencer was still a relatively new concept. Fitness became the foundation of her account. Workout videos, motivational posts, modeling photos, and her outspoken personality gradually attracted millions of followers.

Real Estate, Luxury Assets & Personal Investments

As her audience expanded, companies began paying Renner to promote products. Her partnerships over the years have included Fashion Nova, PrettyLittleThing, Teami Blends, and fitness and lifestyle brands. She also developed exercise programs, an app, and athletic apparel through her B. Renner Fitness business.

Renner has said she was the first person in her family to experience the level of income that social media eventually provided her. Looking back, she has also acknowledged that she did not understand taxes, trademarks, business structures, or long-term wealth management when the money first began coming in.

In a 2022 interview, Renner said she had "gotten a lot of money" and "blown a lot of money." She described realizing that the social-media income associated with youth and physical appearance would not necessarily last forever and that she needed to create businesses and media projects with more staying power.

"Judge This Cover"

Wealth Trajectory & Future Earnings Projections

Renner self-published her memoir, "Judge This Cover," through B. Renner Fitness in October 2018.

The book chronicles her childhood, relationships, sexual experiences, rise on social media, and encounters with athletes and entertainers. Rather than naming every person directly, Renner used descriptions and nicknames for some of the men discussed in the book, which generated extensive online speculation about their identities.

"Judge This Cover" gained meaningful commercial traction for a self-published memoir. It appeared on Publishers Weekly's trade paperback bestseller list and was later released as an audiobook narrated by Renner herself.

Her willingness to discuss relationships and sexuality publicly became a defining element of her media persona, but it also contributed to years of criticism and assumptions about her relationships with wealthy men.

Acting and Television

Renner began taking acting roles as her online profile grew. She appeared as Mona on the BET drama "American Soul" in 2019 and played Bella in two 2020 episodes of Tyler Perry's "The Haves and the Have Nots."

Her most substantial television opportunity arrived with VH1's "Basketball Wives." Renner joined season 11 in 2023 alongside returning cast members including Evelyn Lozada, Jackie Christie, and Jennifer Williams. The series was created by Shaunie O'Neal and follows women whose lives have intersected with professional basketball players.

Renner's connection to the NBA came through her former relationship with P.J. Washington. She initially departed "Basketball Wives" during season 11 but returned as a main cast member for season 12, which premiered in May 2025.

Her storyline during the season included major changes in her personal life and religious beliefs, as well as her relationship with Kevin Gates.

"Basketball Wives" Salary and Financial Disclosures

Renner's 2025 child-support proceedings with P.J. Washington produced unusually specific information about her finances.

In an income-and-expense declaration filed in Los Angeles, Renner said she had been earning approximately $10,000 per month while filming "Basketball Wives." She said the reality-show income was her primary source of earnings at the time and that her final payment arrived in June 2025.

After those checks stopped, Renner told the court she had no steady salary. She listed just $81 in cash and bank accounts in the financial declaration and said she was living with her son in a modest Airbnb rental in West Hills, California.

The disclosure stood in sharp contrast to the image of wealth often associated with someone who had accumulated millions of social-media followers over more than a decade. Renner had already acknowledged years earlier that she had earned and spent substantial amounts of money during the peak of her influencer career.

By July 2026, Renner was living back in Mississippi and publicly described herself as rebuilding financially. She said returning to Los Angeles remained a goal but that supporting herself and her son without consistent help had made rebuilding difficult.

P.J. Washington and Child Support

Renner began dating NBA player P.J. Washington in 2020. Their son, Paul Jermaine Washington III, was born in May 2021. The couple separated shortly afterward.

Their breakup became one of the most heavily discussed aspects of Renner's public life. Viral social-media posts falsely claimed that she was receiving $200,000 per month in child support, a figure Renner repeatedly denied.

The actual support arrangement was far smaller. By 2025, Washington was paying approximately $5,500 per month under an existing North Carolina order.

After moving to California, Renner petitioned to increase the payment to $35,000 per month. She argued that Washington's income had increased dramatically after signing a four-year, $90 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks while her own television income had ended.

Renner ultimately abandoned the effort. In February 2026, she announced that she had voluntarily dismissed her California child-support case and was moving to Atlanta. She said she did not want the pursuit of Washington's money dictating where she lived or how she approached her life.

Colin Kaepernick

One of Renner's most publicized earlier relationships was with NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Renner discussed the relationship in "Judge This Cover," though she did not use Kaepernick's name directly in the book. She has subsequently spoken about their history more openly in interviews.

Her relationships with professional athletes became a recurring subject in internet commentary surrounding Renner, something she has frequently pushed back against. Renner has argued that the public often assumes money motivated her dating decisions while ignoring the income she generated independently through social media, books, hosting, television, and brand deals.

Conversion to Islam

Renner publicly converted to Islam in August 2024 after saying she had felt drawn to the religion for several years. She adopted more modest clothing and began wearing a hijab publicly.

She later described the conversion as improving virtually every area of her life by giving her more discipline, structure, and spiritual grounding.

The shift also affected her career. Renner acknowledged that changing the way she presented herself online reduced some of the opportunities that had historically generated income for her, particularly because much of her social-media brand had been built around fitness, fashion, and revealing imagery.

She nevertheless said that the spiritual benefits outweighed the financial consequences.

Kevin Gates Marriage

Renner became publicly linked to Kevin Gates in 2025. Gates had appeared to reference Renner years earlier in his music, and the two began appearing together publicly after her conversion to Islam.

Renner said she and Gates entered into an Islamic marriage on April 6, 2025. They attended basketball games and public events together, and she described him at the time as someone she had dreamed of finding.

The marriage lasted just 52 days. Renner announced that they had divorced on May 28, 2025. She later explained that Islamic tradition called for a waiting period following the divorce and said she did not regret marrying Gates because she had followed her heart and fully committed to the relationship.

It was not publicly established whether their religious marriage was also registered as a civil marriage.

Later Relationships and Return to Mississippi

Renner later dated filmmaker Rashad Scroggins and moved from Los Angeles to Atlanta during their relationship. In early 2026, Scroggins appeared with her on her "Facets of Life" show while she discussed dropping the child-support case against Washington.

The relationship ended several months later. By the summer of 2026, Renner had returned to her native Mississippi with her son.

She began livestreaming on Kick and continued developing independent media projects while speaking openly about the difficulty of rebuilding her finances. Her current ventures have included "Facets of Life," the "#GFYShow," an Amazon storefront, book sales, apparel, social-media promotions, and online content.
